Books & Paintings from North East India

Writing and painting from the North East rarely reaches national bookshops or galleries. Independent publishers in Guwahati, Imphal, Shillong and Kohima print in small runs, and many painters sell directly from their studios because there is no regional gallery circuit to carry them.

This section carries fiction, poetry, folklore and oral-history collections, regional-language and bilingual titles, photography and craft books documenting the eight states, original paintings on canvas and paper, and limited prints. Artists list medium, dimensions and whether a work is framed on each product page.

Buying here sends the money to the writer, publisher or painter rather than to a distributor. Print runs and original works are genuinely limited, so a sold-out listing may not return. Every item shows the state and district of its creator, and each seller is verified by Anaira Avenue before publishing.
